Ontario South Coast Bed and Breakfast Association was established
in September 2001 by a couple of hosts who decided they would invite
other hosts to gather for some conversation and networking. 15 Bed and
Breakfasts attended that first meeting at Clonmel Estate in Port Dover.
By September 2004, the group had grown to about 30 members across
Haldimand and Norfolk Counties.
The name “Ontario South Coast” was adopted from an existing Tourism
organization at the time, called South Coast Tourism Inc. Since that
time, the Regional Municipality of Haldimand-Norfolk returned to two
counties, each with their own Tourism Department. The group works
closely with Haldimand Tourism and Norfolk
Tourism.
The Association meets monthly, usually on the last Tuesday of the
month, from September to May. Meetings are moved across the two
counties to give everyone an opportunity to attend and are most often
held at a Bed and Breakfast, if space permits. Evening Potluck Socials
are held at our December and May meetings, usually beginning at 6:00
p.m. Other meetings may be held at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm or 7:00 pm
depending on our hosts preference.
Each April, a new executive is nominated to lead the group the
following season which consists of a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
As of September 2004, an annual membership fee of $50.00 is due by
October 31. These funds are primarily used for joint advertising
opportunities.
If you are a Bed and Breakfast host or are considering opening a Bed
and Breakfast, we invite you to join us. Great networking, sharing of
information, interesting speakers, funny and not-so-funny
stories, wonderful friendships.
